A man has been found guilty of killing a young Irish woman 23 years ago.

Ailing serial killer Bradley Robert Edwards, 51, was found guilty of killing Ciara Glennon, 27, and Jane Rimmer, 23, in Claremont, a suburb of Perth, Australia.

Ms. Glennon, who was a lawyer, was kidnapped in March 1997.

His body was found in bushes in Perth just a few weeks later.

His heartbroken father Michael, from Westport in Co Mayo, and his mother Una, from Monaghan, had to identify his remains.

Ms. Rimmer disappeared in 1996 a year earlier and her body was also recovered in bushes.

Edwards was charged with their murders in December 2016.

The Glennon family leaves St Marys Cathedral after the service for their daughter Ciara Eilish Glennon, a 27-year-old lawyer who may have been abducted from the Perth suburb of Claremont in Western Australia.

Edwards was found guilty more than 20 years after the horrific crimes, but was acquitted of the murder of 18-year-old Sarah Spier, whose body was never found.

The trial was conducted without a jury at the Central Courts of Justice in Perth, and Judge Stephen Hall delivered his verdict today, reports RTE.

Edwards, who will be subject to a psychiatric report, will be sentenced on December 23.

Ciara’s family members have already paid tribute to her and spoke fondly of her regular visits to Ireland with her younger sister Denise.

Her uncle Gerry Murphy of Waterford said she was a “lovely, fun-loving girl.”

She added: “She was full of life, she loved the outdoors and was very into sports.”
