The number of Covid-19 outbreaks in private homes increased by 391 last week, bringing the total to 2,463.
It compares with an increase of 61 the previous week.
The new figures, released today by the Center for Health Protection Surveillance, also show there were 11 additional outbreaks involving extended families.
Bring the number that has occurred to 80.
The HPSC report, which covers the week through last Saturday, also shows that the number of outbreaks in schools increased by 11 to 23.
The HPSC said that “the outbreaks are associated with school children or school personnel,” but said that “transmission of Covid-19 within the school has not necessarily been established.”
The number of outbreaks in the workplace increased by 18, to 125.
Three occurred in meat, poultry, or fish processing plants, while two occurred in the construction industry.
There were two outbreaks last week related to pubs, while there were three outbreaks in restaurants or cafes.
Four other outbreaks in nursing homes were also reported to HPSC, bringing the total to 287 and there were two additional outbreaks in hospitals.
In total, 470 different outbreaks were reported last week.
An outbreak is defined as two or more cases of coronavirus.
