More counties could soon join Dublin under a Level Three lockdown as the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise.
More Covid-19 outbreaks and infections have been confirmed in a large number of areas in recent days and weeks.
One of the key measures used by health officials to determine if closures are needed is the 14-day incidence rate of confirmed cases per 100,000 residents.
This shows how many people are becoming infected relative to the size of the county.
Dublin saw tremendous growth in this stat shortly before it was placed at level three, and so did Kildare, Laois and Offaly before they were put into a local lockdown.
Concern began to grow in all four counties when the incidence was above about 80 per 100,000.
As it stands today, four counties have a rate above 80, and several others are close behind a widespread growth in infections.
