Gareth Bale’s agent says it was Tottenham’s enthusiasm to secure Gareth Bale’s return that saw them beat players like Manchester United in their signing.
Bale has returned to North London after seven trophy-laden years at Real Madrid.
When talks about his departure from Spain escalated, reports claimed that various parties, including United, were showing interest.

Talking to BBC SportHowever, Jonathan Barnett says Tottenham was the first club to make serious headway for Bale’s signing.
“It was basically a conversation between [Tottenham chairman] Daniel Levy and I where the issue came up, I suggested it and Daniel was interested, ”said the agent.
“So that’s basically how it was done. No magic, just long talks.
“Daniel Levy has been interested in bringing Gareth back for a long time. There was always a reason why it couldn’t happen. This was the right time. They made the move first. “
Bale moved back to North London on a one-season loan deal, with Madrid and Spurs splitting the cost of his salary.
However, Barnett believes that if the Wales international impresses, it will be “easy” to make a second move.
“I’m sure that if things really went well, we would have no problem,” added the agent.
“This is the club he wants to play for. I don’t see any problem if you want one more year. Hopefully the theme [of returning to Real] will not go up.
“He will be so successful at Tottenham that he will want to stay and it will be an easy deal to do the rest.”
Bale will not make his second Spurs debut for at least another four weeks. The forward returned to England with a knee injury, so the Spurs recommended a detailed recovery plan.
