An Irish town is full of excitement after Hollywood actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck reportedly arrived.
Superstar actor Damon, who is back in Ireland for the second time this year, is filming scenes for the movie The Last Duel.
Directed by Ridley Scott, Ben Affleck will also star in the film that had to be postponed for several months due to the pandemic.
The people of Cahir, Co Tipperary, are hoping to see the Oscar-winning couple in town.
Filming is taking place at Cahir Castle, which has been booked by the film company for the next several weeks.
The area is off-limits from September 27 to October 1, when the main footage is due to shoot.
Cllr Moloney told Tipperary Live: “Many movies have been made in Cahir, the most popular being ‘Excalibur’ and the sword still remains in stone at Inch Field.
“Hopefully we can take a look at the high-profile actors in the coming weeks and create the buzz in Cahir that we’ve grown used to in recent years.”
Many locals have taken to Twitter to express their excitement as they try to get a sneak peek at the stars.
Matt Damon is back living in a Dublin mansion when he finishes filming a new Hollywood blockbuster, it has been reported.
The actor made headlines in March when he was locked up in Dalkey for several weeks during the coronavirus shutdown.
And now it has emerged that the A-lister is back in Ireland to film scenes for Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel.
This time, however, he moved into a house on the outskirts of Dalkey in neighboring Killiney, where he is currently staying in a 15,000-euro-a-week mansion on Vico Road, reports the Sunday World.
The Good Will Hunting actor caused a stir earlier this year when he spent several weeks in quarantine in Dublin, with a now-famous image of him holding a Supervalu shopping bag.
In a hilarious response, the Rushes’ local Supervalu said: “Hollywood’s latest must-have fashion accessory, Rushe’s SuperValu ‘reusable shopping bag’ is exclusively available at… yes, you guessed it, Rushes SuperValus.
“For just 70 cents, you too can look like a Hollywood movie star.”
The 49-year-old said at the time that life in quarantine in Dalkey, which is also home to Bono, Edge, Enya and Neil Jordan, was “like a fairy tale.”
He flew to Dublin with his wife, Luciana Barrosa, and their children, Isabella, Gia, and Stella, in early March to film Ridley Scott’s new movie, but almost immediately the movie was closed under Covid-19 restrictions.
The family had stayed at the impressive mansion of former Formula 1 star Eddie Irvine.
The star was also seen racing on Killiney Hill and was also photographed cruising around town in a humble Ford Fiesta.
He told Spin 1038 in May: “It was amazing. This is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been.
“Obviously what is happening in the world is horrible, but I have my whole family; I am with my children and we have teachers with us because we plan to miss school for about eight weeks.
“It feels like a fairy tale. When I first walked in, people were saying well, ‘Bono lives there, Enya lives there.’
