GARDAI was forced to disperse a crowd of up to 100 after a huge party in Dublin on the first day the new Covid-19 restrictions were put in place.
Shocking footage of the incident at Oliver Bond’s Dublin apartments shows up to 100 people partying on an astro sports field in the complex with no physical distance.
A small marquee was erected with a DJ playing songs while people danced and drank in the field.
Photos of the area taken this morning show garbage strewn across the countryside, including empty vodka bottles and dozens of small cans of laughing gas, also known as hippy crack.
An irate local told the Irish Sun: “It was absolutely disgraceful. There were over 100 in it, possibly twice as much, it was out of control.
“The guards were called several times and broke up, but the people just regrouped once they left.
‘ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING’
“The current state of the place is appalling. It’s absolutely disgusting, the soccer field is ruined. Cans and bottles and drug paraphernalia everywhere. “
Gardai was called to the scene around 11:15 p.m. to disperse the crowd, and routine patrols were then dispatched to the area.
A spokeswoman for An Garda Siochana told the Irish Sun: “Gardaí responded to reports of a meeting at a residential complex on Oliver Bond Street at approximately 11.15pm last night, Saturday 20 September 2020.
“Gardaí attended the scene and asked all the people to disperse, which they did. Gardaí did not detect any violations.
“Several routine patrols were carried out in the area during the course of the night.”
The wild party occurred on the first day that Dublin’s new Level Three lockdown measures were implemented due to escalating virus cases in the city.
Over 1,500 cases of the virus have been detected in Dublin in recent weeks, prompting the government to introduce new restrictions on social gatherings.
Currently in Dublin only organized gatherings of up to 15 people are allowed outside and people are also asked to limit visitors to their home or garden to six people from another household.
