Donegal’s senior soccer team has gone into isolation after one of its players tested positive for Covid-19.

The player was examined earlier this week just before returning to training and the test came back positive.

It is believed that all the members of the panel were taken by management for a medical examination as a precautionary measure.

Donegal will play Tyrone in the NFL on October 16 and 17 and in the Ulster Championship on November 1 and both games will be at Ballybofey.

Borough President Mick McGrath confirmed that a player had tested positive:

“One player tested positive when the team went back to training and everyone was screened for Covid.

“Management brought the team in for a medical check-up earlier this week and there were several issues.

“After that, it was decided to put the whole team to the test, as well as the management team. And one of the players tested positive. Our pitchers will be back next week and we will have to do the same with them.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Donegal GAA said:

“After a long hiatus, and in accordance with GAA guidelines, the Donegal senior team returned to collective training this week.

“The whole team was tested for Covid-19 and one of the team members has had a positive result.

“These are tough and tough times for everyone at GAA and the community at large.”

Meanwhile, the CCC has confirmed that it has postponed the Senior B and Intermediate B championships due to the increase in cases in Donegal and the number of postponements requested by the clubs.
