Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has been given a drink by an unidentified woman.
Varadkar was filming in Merrion Square in Dublin city center this afternoon when the woman, wearing a mask, came up and threw a drink at him.
A Twitter account that first tweeted the video said the drink was a smoothie.
Another video shows the Tánaiste following the incident. The videos have circulated on social media today, prompting heavy condemnation online.

Former TD Noel Rock called it “a disgusting thing, regardless of your political point of view.”
Former presidential candidate Gavin Duffy said it was “horribly rude” to do so with Varadkar.
“This is an attack on our democracy, not on him,” he said on social media.
“It was reported to be coffee, but it could have been anything, including acid. We need to better protect our politicians. “
Gardaí said in a statement that they are “investigating an incident in Merrion Square today” that happened around 3pm.
Varadkar’s spokesperson has been contacted for comment.
