A young child in serious condition in the hospital after being injured in an accident.
The young man was rushed to Crumlin Hospital following the collision of two vehicles in Cherry Orchard, Dublin, shortly after 7 pm.
According to local sources, the accident involved at least one quad bike and the boy’s injuries are said to be serious.
A garda spokesperson said: “Gardai and emergency services are currently at the scene of a two-vehicle collision that occurred in Croftwood Crescent, Cherry Orchard, Dublin 10, at approximately 7:20 pm.
“A girl was taken to Crumlin Hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries.
“A 19-year-old man was taken to Tallaght Hospital for treatment for serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
“There is no additional information available at this moment.”
Sinn Fein local councilor Daithi Doolan expressed his condolences on behalf of the community and said everyone was praying for a speedy recovery.
He told the Irish Sun: “I would like to express my condolences to everyone involved and I hope everyone makes a full and rapid recovery.
“The local community is in shock and no one expected to make such a trip to Crumlin Hospital.
“It is a terrible situation and it is made worse by the fact that there is a child involved. My thoughts are with everyone affected by this. “
He also tweeted: “Reports of a very serious accident at Cherry Orchard. Our thoughts are with the family.
“Thinking of you in this difficult time. I hope everyone is okay.”
