A father who earns 69,000 euros a year has not paid alimony for his three children since 2015, a court has heard.

After examining statements about the man’s income and expenses, Judge Mary Larkin told the Family Law Court in Ennis today that “this man is fine. You can afford to shop at Dunnes Stores and Tesco every other day. “

Since December 2014 there is a court order in which the man pays 600 euros a month in child support to his ex-partner for their three children.

The lawyer for the children’s mother, Ann Gillane, told the court today: “This man earns 69,000 euros a year. You have not paid any maintenance. ”

In response, Judge Larkin implemented an addendum to the earnings order that will deduct 1,100 euros from the man’s salary each month and will be paid to his ex-partner.

Judge Larkin said that the € 1,100 will be made up of the monthly maintenance payment of € 600 and € 500 in arrears.

Judge Larkin stated: “This man is not paying any support and totally ignoring the court order issued in 2014. This man is saving 600 euros a month by not paying support.”

The father was not in court today, but was legally represented.

Judge Larkin stated: “You are not paying anything. This man has a substantial salary and has three children. “

This man has not paid a penny in maintenance for 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.

The judge added: “You cannot continue to ignore your obligations.”

Judge Larkin said the man has not paid “35,000 euros or more” in court-ordered support payments since 2015.

The judge added: “I would like to see your savings and how much money you have saved by not paying support.”
