Jurgen Klopp has asked Liverpool’s board for two more signings before the October transfer deadline, according to a report.

The transfer window closes on October 5 and with only Kostas Tsimikas added to the champion squad to date, Klopp is pursuing two more additions.

That’s the view from The Atheltic, with James Pearce suggesting that Klopp would rather add a couple of players to his squad.

The German manager would normally do his transfer business as soon as possible, but the rescheduled 2019/20 campaign and short preseason have hampered the Reds and other clubs.

The Reds are also willing to pay the biggest coronavirus bill of any Premier League club’s broadcasters.

The champions will see a £ 17.3 million cut in their television revenue from last season as a result of the Covid-19 crisis.

Klopp is well aware of the financial constraints facing the club and it is estimated that the club could have been hit to the tune of £ 100 million due to the pandemic.

Still, Klopp is chasing another center-back after the Dejan Lovren sale in early summer and that’s said to be a priority.

The club has also been strongly linked with Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago, while Watford forwards Ismaila Sarr it is also claimed to be a target.

No friction

Watford, however, wants 40 million pounds for Sarr, while Thiago is priced at 27 million pounds and Liverpool is reported to believe prices will drop as the October deadline approaches.

The Reds have not had conversations with Thiago and Klopp has publicly refused to admit interest in the Spanish star.

Liverpool could sign an agreement with him in January that will see the player join for nothing next summer.

There is apparently no friction with Klopp due to the lack of transfer activity on his side and his relationship with FSG president Mike Gordon and transfer guru Michael Edwards remains good.
