A mom posted touching tributes to her “beautiful baby” just days before the family dog mutilated him to death.
Baby Elon was rushed to hospital after Chow Chow-cross Teddy jumped out of a garden pen and savagely attacked him on Sunday, but sadly he could not be saved.
Her mother, Abigail Ellis, 27, was arrested along with her fiancé Stephen Joynes, 35, on suspicion of gross negligence homicide.
They have since been released on bail, and the 3-foot dog has now been destroyed.
Ellis had posted a comment on a photo of the adorable baby just 11 days before he died, saying, “Our beautiful baby. Love him to pieces.”
She also added a heartwarming photo on Facebook of her with the little baby in her hospital bed and another with her three siblings.
And in August, Ellis posted excited about her baby’s impending arrival.
She said, “Get ready for our little one to make his appearance soon.
“He’s head down, engaged and ready. But when will he come is the big question !!”
New dad Joynes uploaded a photo of Elon, saying he “couldn’t be happier” with the new arrival.
The baby’s devastated uncle revealed today that the dog has been destroyed.
He claimed that the dog may have attacked the baby in his Moses basket after jumping out of his garden pen because he was “jealous” or thought the baby was a toy.
Ellis’s brother told MailOnline that he said, “It’s your worst nightmare. She was upstairs in the bathroom and Steve and my sister’s boy were in the garden.”
“The dog was in the corral and suddenly he jumped over and broke free and went through the open door into a room on the ground floor where the baby was in a Moses basket.
Then he attacked him. You may have thought it was a toy or a doll.
“I don’t know all the details because they are too upset to talk about it. But the dog has never had a problem before.”
“He had been living there for some time. He was Steve’s daughter’s dog and when he separated from his partner, she didn’t want to keep him, so my sister took care of him.
TRIPLE TRAGEDY
“He was a big squishy named Teddy and all the kids and adults hugged him. The police have destroyed him now, so that’s another loss.”
One of Ellis’s friends revealed today how Elon’s death is the third tragedy to hit the family.
Joel, the father of Ellis’ three other children, died last year of sepsis at age 28 and his father, Richard, died in 2013.
The friend, who did not want to be named, told The Sun: “Her partner Joel died 18 months ago. They were planning a wedding but it never happened.
“She’s never had it easy, but she met Stephen and got pregnant and saw this as a new beginning.
“She felt guilty about getting into a new relationship because she and Joel had been childhood sweethearts.
“But baby Elon was her ray of hope in the midst of the tragedy.”
Emergency crews were flown to the home Sunday afternoon after the family dog attacked him.
The dog is understood to be one of three living in the family home, but was kept outside in a kennel.
But Ellis’s brother, Keith, claims the dog jumped off the pen before attacking the baby.
He said, “She’s been through so much, she needs time to cry.
“The dog was not in the house at the time, it was in a corral in the garden.
“He was such a big fluffy dog, he was like a teddy bear. His name was even Teddy.
“You wouldn’t expect me to do something like that.
“He’s a big, soft dog.”
Horrified neighbors claimed the animal was strong enough to drag three policemen onto the road as they desperately tried to get it out of the house.
Local Sally Hooley said: “I passed while the police were taking the dog out.
“It was a big fluffy golden thing. It didn’t seem like a dangerous breed.
“But the police were fighting to get him into the dog van.
“It was strong enough to drag three officers onto the road.”
Locals have now expressed their grief over the tragedy while discussing the death of their former partner.
One burst into tears when he said, “She was a brilliant mother, but her whole life fell apart when he died.”
“She lost everything.”
While another said: “It is heartbreaking, it is a tragedy upon a tragedy.”
Devastated Debbie Kitchen, who knows the family, said: “This was a tragic accident.
“RIP little man flies high with the angels.”
It is not known if the dog, believed to be a mongrel, has been destroyed.
Friend Louise Scott wrote on Facebook: “Absolutely devastating news.
“Two parents have just lost a son and three other children to a brother in such dire circumstances.
“Sleep well, little man.”
A South Yorkshire police spokesman said: “Upon arrival at the property, emergency services discovered that a 12-day-old baby had been bitten by a dog and suffered serious injuries.”
