A teenager was rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in Dromiskin, Co Louth.

The incident occurred near the Mooretown area of ​​the village around 1.50am last night.

The 17-year-old was hit by the vehicle on the R132 road to Castlebellingham.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the young man was transferred to the Hospital Nuestra Señora de Lourdes in Drogheda.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Gardai is appealing to anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

A spokeswoman said: “At approximately 1.50 am on Wednesday 16 September, Gardaí attended the scene of a serious traffic collision involving a car and a 17-year-old pedestrian on R132 in Mooretown near Castlebellingham.

“The 17-year-old was taken by ambulance to the Nuestra Señora de Lourdes Hospital.

“His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

“Witnesses are asked to contact the Ardee station on 041 685 3222 or the confidential Garda line 1800 666 111.”
