Boxer Carl Frampton has been challenged in court over ties between his management company and Daniel Kinahan, who is allegedly involved in organized crime.
Frampton is taking legal action against his former manager Barry McGuigan.
Mr. McGuigan’s attorney told Mr. Frampton that his current management company, MTK Global, is a front for a criminal organization.
“I’m not aware of that,” Frampton replied.
On Tuesday, the Belfast High Court was informed that one of the people involved with MTK was Daniel Kinahan, suspected of being a “crime boss”.
“I’ve heard the stories,” said Mr. Frampton. “I don’t suspect anything.”
He later added: “I don’t make judgments.
“Do you believe everything you read in the newspapers?”

Mr. Kinahan has no convictions. A judge named him in a Dublin court as a leading figure in Irish organized crime.
In May, MTK Global said that Daniel Kinahan was not part of its business, but said that he does “advise” some fighters under the group’s leadership.
Then in June, Kinahan said he would take time out of the sport after coming under scrutiny for negotiating a fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.
MTK Global has over 100 boxers on their books, including Mr. Frampton.
The Belfast boxer is suing his former manager Barry McGuigan and Cyclone Promotions for alleged retained earnings.
They parted ways in August 2017 after a successful eight-year partnership.
McGuigan has countersued the boxer, accusing him of breach of contract.
Both men have denied wrongdoing.
