Gardaí in Drogheda is investigating whether a fire in a family home on Monday night was caused by a gasoline pump.
A woman (30) and her three young children had to jump to safety from a bedroom window.
All four are believed to be unharmed but shocked by their experience.
The scene has been preserved and will be examined by Garda forensic experts.
There are indications that it is not linked to a gang dispute.
The fire brigade was called out by local people who saw flames coming from the door of the townhouse in St Laurence’s Park at approximately 9.40pm.
The Drogheda Fire Service responded and extinguished the fire.
The family is believed to have moved out last month. All children are understood to be of primary school age.
Gardaí said the cause of the fire was under investigation and will include whether an element with some type of accelerant was used to start the fire; damage was done to the door and porch.
The flames were first seen coming from the entrance of the house, which is located to the side of the three-bedroom property. When neighbors rushed to see if they could help, they saw the woman and three children jumping from the window of a first-floor room.
The family was evaluated by ambulances and paramedics on the scene and did not require hospital treatment.
Gardaí sealed the house and are asking that witnesses contact them at Drogheda Garda station (041 9874200) or on the confidential Garda line (1800 666 111).
