In cities across the country, a nationwide taxi driver demonstration is taking place calling for greater government support.
Up to 1,500 drivers take part in the biggest demonstration in Dublin.
The protest has been organized by the four main unions in the sector representing tens of thousands of drivers.
Union leaders say members have been “overlooked during the pandemic,” claiming demand for taxis has dropped by 70%.
They ask the Government to deliver a financial package so that “drivers can go back to work.”
Drivers from Kerry, Kilkenny, Galway and Cork counties have joined taxi drivers from across the capital to highlight the issues facing members.
The demonstration will end at the Government Buildings, where some TDs will address taxi drivers.
