Gardaí says investigations are ongoing but are following a “defined line of investigation” following an alleged robbery and assault incident in the Blackrock area of Cork City.

Shortly before midnight on Friday, it is understood that a man in his 30s was accosted and assaulted by three young men while standing at a bus stop on Ringmahon Road.

The young people who fled the scene on foot took his iPhone and his wallet.

The wounded man managed to raise the alarm and report the matter to Gardaí shortly thereafter.

In a follow-up operation last night, the stolen phone was recovered while investigating Gardaí.

“The phone was returned to the victim, who continues to recover from the incident.

“No arrests were made at this stage of the investigation, but the Gardaí is now following a defined line of investigation.
