Ballymun saw two players with a red card after a brutal fight marred the end of their Dublin SFC semi-final victory over Kilmacud Crokes tonight.

The North Dublin club were left with winners 1-18 to 1-12 at Parnell Park as they booked a final date with Ballyboden St. Enda’s.

But it was Donnycarney’s final scenes that overshadowed the occasion, with forward David Byrne and full back Leon Young sent off as a result.

Substitute Jason Whelan and Kilmacud defender Cian O’Connor kicked off the hand-to-hand combat when they tangled off the ball, prompting surrounding players to try and break the pair.

After all had settled down, O’Connor claimed his eye had been gouged out when he and Whelan received yellow cards from them.

But it was Byrne and Young who saw red for their skirmish roles in the fight, with both players now out of the county final as things stand.

Others involved in the attack could face punishment, and officials are likely to see footage of the incident.

The fight came minutes after Cathal O’Tighe’s goal nearly sealed victory for the Dublin 2012 kingpins, who will be back at Parnell Park for the deciding match in two weeks.
