Dublin had the highest number of coronavirus cases again today, and Waterford and Donegal also saw big jumps.

The Health Department announced 255 cases, 156 of them in Dublin; only one more death was confirmed.

Waterford saw a surprising jump of 22 cases in the last 24 hours with 13 in Donegal.

Another 11 were in Wicklow, nine in Limerick, eight in Kildare, five in Clare, and the remaining 31 cases in Carlow, Cork, Galway, Kerry, Laois, Longford, Louth, Mayo, Meath, Offaly, Tipperary, Westmeath and Wexford.

Of these new cases, 129 are men and 123 women, 68% are under 45 years of age.

34% are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case, while 69 cases have been identified as community transmission.

Earlier, Dr. Glynn urged people in Dublin to limit their social contacts, as the average number of cases in the capital increased to an average of 104 per day.

As it stands, cases in Dublin are increasing by 4% per day and would double in the next two weeks if nothing changes.
