Una Healy has said that her ex-husband Ben Foden’s marriage to Jackie Belanoff Smith was a “shock” for her.

The 38-year-old Irish singer split from the rugby player in 2018 after six years of marriage amid reports that he cheated on her, which she later admitted were true.

Now Una has opened up about her divorce and Ben’s subsequent marriage to socialite Jackie after just a few weeks of dating.

The mother of two told The Sun’s Fabulous magazine: “Divorce is a tough thing to get over.

“You don’t walk down the hall expecting this to happen. You hope it will be forever and you don’t marry with any other intention.

“And when it doesn’t work, it’s devastating. Totally devastating.

“So that was pretty difficult, but last summer when he got married again, it was a huge shock to me. I was like, ‘Woah, what is this?’ “It was something else I had to understand. But life goes on, right?

“It moves faster for some than others, obviously!”

The Tipperary native, who has two children with Ben, Aoife Belle (eight) and Tadgh (five), said it is difficult to share parenting duties with Ben since he lives in the United States.

“That he lives in the United States makes it difficult because it means that we really cannot be co-parents,” he continued.

“So I’m the main caregiver for the children and they are with me all the time. But as long as I can have them for a period of time, it’s good.”

When travel restrictions eased a bit in July and Aoife Belle and Tadgh were able to fly to the United States to visit Ben, Jackie and their new half-sister, it was the first time they had seen their father since Christmas.

“They’ve only been there once and I guess they found it exciting,” Una said.

“I try to stay as positive as I can about the situation and point out that they are lucky to be able to go to America and have fun, while I have a couple of weeks off, to maybe go on vacation too. So I try to see the positive aspects “.
