More really exciting races on the second day of the Irish Champions Weekend at Curragh today and in the first race, the Sprint Handicap ‘Bold Lad’, it is worth remembering that Make A Challenge was passed last year so not a chore. easy try to find the winner. .
The market seems to have settled on Lupton, which is interesting as he is now 10 pounds lower in the ratings than when he won a Group Two on the field and distance at last year’s Irish Guineas meeting.
With the ground tense a bit, I would certainly focus on the UK rivals, with Highland Dress and Treacherous also highly respected. But Mr. Lupton seems to be getting back into form and I don’t see sixth place being a problem in this race. However, perhaps we can leave it with the current odds.
I’m a huge fan of Thundering Nights before the Moyglare ‘Jewels’ Blanford Stakes and she has put a couple of good turns on us this season, but I have in the back of my mind that she could have done it with the ground. being a softer tone.
In soft last time it was very good to beat Albigna and although it has won well before, the drier it dries, the less I like it. And you should have the utmost respect for Magic Wand.
So possibly I’ll wait until I hear some of the riders’ comments on the ride after the first race.
A’Ali was possibly a bit overlooked in our Friday preview video (see below) but I’ve seen the Nunthorpe a couple of times and it ran pretty well considering its best efforts previously had been on stiffer finishes here at Curragh. and Sandown.
You can see why it is well supported.
Glass Slippers is a Group One winner whose form obviously ties with A’Ali, while Make A Challenge is another Irish runner who hasn’t gotten many favors in this dry weather. Which turns things around in A’Ali’s favor, who won’t be bothered by the one post I can’t imagine.
Personally, I can throw a couple of shillings each way to Kurios at 40/1, but it’s not the kind of bet you could be very confident in.
I hope Seamie Heffernan has another good day and MOTHER EARTH It seems like a pretty high price at 10/1 (bet365 1/5 1,2,3,4) on Moyglare Stud Stakes.
Pretty Gorgeous was very impressive at Curragh on the last day, but Lawman’s daughter really did seem very effective on the soft ground that time and she may not look as good today.
Shale and Teresa Mendoza have the opportunity to get closer to her, but Mother Earth was formed much better than the result of the last time and she did not manage to run in a vital stage. She kept running and got hit five lengths, but she was probably valuable for a couple of lengths there and she won’t have stopped learning and improving yet.
She is worth a small bet each way.
We will leave Goffs Vincent O’Brien National Stakes because I am fascinated to see these three horses, Master Of The Seas, Lucky Vega and Battleground, lined up with each other. We saw a stellar performance from Pinatubo last year and I hope we see something similar.
If Battleground were 4/1 more or less then he would be the bet and there is a 7/2 point around I see, but obviously there is trust in the Godolphin horse so it’s a race that I will probably sit back and savor.
I gave Micro Manage a positive mention in the preview on Friday as it was 10/1 ish after declaration time, but now it is 11/2 better and probably not of great value with drying the floor.
I have an open mind on the race and I would not be surprised if Passion were to go well again. A three-year-old filly won the race last year and the assignments should see Passion there or there even though she has yet to make it into the numbers.
Star Of Orion seems short on the big sales run, but it obviously has the official rating which gives the impression that it might be too good. But anything can come up in this type of career and it would not have a good vision in any way.
Archie Watson has a partner there and Night On Earth is respected by Andrew Balding given he was 10/1 in Molecomb. The high tie (20) could be a great advantage in this type of race.
KIPLING (6/1 BoyleSports 1/5 1,2,3,4,5) it was nap after decs and I’m happy to get back in. He was a well regarded youth, he needed his return to Roscommon and then he won really well last time.
He meets a lot of requirements, being a well-mannered son of Galileo, and could still be way ahead of his brand.
I could hardly have picked a tougher race as my best bet of the weekend, but we are on the side of a fit team and hopefully we can finish the meeting on top. Good luck if you are betting on a really competitive and quality card.
