NA Piarsaigh is in a fourth straight senior pitching final from Limerick and has dethroned champion Patrickswell en route.
The semifinal ended with Na Piarsaigh 1-25 Patrickswell 0-17 at the LIT Gaelic Grounds.
Na Piarsaigh now plays Doon in next Saturday’s final, a replay of the decider of 2018 that the city team won.
Next Saturday will see Na Piarsaigh play in a ninth final and fight to win a sixth title since 2011.
In this semifinal they scored the last seven points to win by 11.
In the first half of injury time, Patrickswell was reduced to 14 men – cornerback Seanie O’Brien was sent off for a second yellow card offense.
The Pears led from 0-14 to 0-9 at halftime.
Five of the last six points from the half secured a five-interval advantage for the city men.
It was a middle dominated on the scoring charts by William Henn and Aaron Gillane, both 0-6 (free).
There were seven different scorers for the men in light blue with two game points for Kevin Downes before he was forced to retire with a hand injury in the 26th minute.
Na Piarsaigh held a 0-7 to 0-3 lead in eight minutes after a spectacular start, perhaps helped by her quarter-final exit last weekend against Ballybrown.
Captain William O’Donoghue scored two game points at the half, in which his team only had three widths, two less than The Well.
It was 0-8 to 0-7 on the water break in the first half, but after this there were only two Gillane free kicks for Patrickswell.
Two points from Cian Lynch helped Patrickswell cut the deficit to two points within five minutes of the restart.
But The Well fell on their heels when David Dempsey scored that Na Piarsaigh led 1-14 to 0-12.
As Peter Casey pointed out, the lead was 1-17 to 0-15 at the water break and with 15 minutes to go.
The Well scored just two more times and Caherdavin’s men crossed the winning line.
