Bettors are struggling to settle their picks from the Pertemps St Leger Stakes (3.35) with four horses battling for favoritism for Saturday’s Classic.
Hukum was ahead as a 100-30 favorite this morning but is back to 7-2 and joins Aidan O’Brien-coached Irish Derby winner Santiago at the top of the market.
Pyledriver has drifted to 4-1, despite being as short as 3-1 last night, while Galileo Chrome hasn’t changed for the same price.
Mark Johnston coached Sir Ron Priestley to finish second at St Leger last year and his half-brother, the subjectivist, is the big driver, being cut from 20-1 to 12-1.
Conditions changed from good to good, from good to firm in places ahead of the seven-race card that starts at 1.15. Another hot, dry day is forecast for the Yorkshire piste.
Doncaster Field Secretary Roderick Duncan said Saturday morning: “The ground is good now, good to firm in some places on the straight course.
“We had a dry night and it should be a dry day, but it is calmer than yesterday and I don’t think there is much movement on the ground.”

“title =” Jim Crowley has had an incredible season and hopes that Hukum can give him a first victory in the Classic “class =” js-imageLoader “data-at-xn =” https://www.rp-assets.com/ images / news / 2020/06/17/79471-medium.jpeg “data-br-n =” https://www.rp-assets.com/images/news/2020/06/17/79471-medium.jpeg “data-br-m =” https://www.rp-assets.com/images/news/2020/06/17/79471-large.jpeg “data-br-w =” https: //www.rp -assets.com/images/news/2020/06/17/79471-large.jpeg “data-br-xw =” https://www.rp-assets.com/images/news/2020/06/17/ 79471-large.jpeg “onclick =” return false; “>
There has been strong support for Wichita coached by Aidan O’Brien at the previous bet365 Park Stakes (3.00). Frankie Dettori’s mount is down to an 11-4 favorite with the overnight market leader Limato drifting to 4-1 for the Group 2 event.
In the meantime, things are going well ahead of an action packed undercard in Leopardstown for the first day of Irish Champions Weekend.
Ghaiyyath remains unchanged as a 4-7 favorite for the characteristic Irish Champion Stakes (4.10), with the Godolphin running back seeking his fourth consecutive victory in Group 1 this year.
The interesting engine of the market in Leopardstown is Van Gogh in KPMG Champions Juvenile Stakes (3.40). The son of American Pharoah is the only rider on Team Aidan O’Brien to have won this race eight times in the last ten years.
