ELEVEN new confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Limerick, according to this teatime program.
It means that Treaty County is the third worst hit in Ireland in terms of today’s increase.
These are among an increase of 1,781 cases nationally, meaning Limerick has had more than 850 confirmed incidents of the condition since the pandemic outbreak in March.
Nationwide, there are a total of 30,360 cases of coronavirus.
Of the new cases, 103 are men and 91 are women and more than six out of ten are people under 45 years of age.
Most of the new cases, 107, have been reported in Dublin, 12 in Waterford, 11 in Limerick, eight in Wicklow, seven in Meath and Kildare respectively, plus six each in Laois and Westmeath.
The remaining 32 cases are spread across 14 other counties, including Clare and Tipperary.
Dr. Ronan Glynn, Acting Medical Director of the Department of Health, said: “Today we have at least 37 cases related to community transmission. About 27 of the current cases are over 65 years old. By limiting our contacts, we limit the Covid opportunity. -19 has to spread throughout the community and ultimately we protect our families, our communities and those who are most vulnerable to the most severe impacts of disease. “
No new cases were reported in Limerick last night, 15 additional cases were reported on Tuesday, two on Monday, 13 on Sunday, 13 on Saturday, six on Friday and two last Thursday.
