Gardaí stops early morning robbery at Cork city center pharmacy

Gardaí arrested a man in connection with a robbery in Cork city early this morning.

Shortly before 4.30 a. M., Gardaí received a report of a possible raid on a pharmacy on Oliver Plunkett Street.

Gardaí from Anglesea Street arrived and discovered that the front windows of the premises were smashed and someone was still inside.

Gardaí entered and arrested a man, in his 20s. They took him to Bridewell Garda Station, where he is currently detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Separately, Gardaí arrested a man in connection with a robbery in Cork City on September 7, 2020.

Around 2:30 a.m., Gardaí received a report of a robbery at a cafe on Western Road. Gardaí from Bridewell Garda Station attended and conducted a patrol of the area, but no arrests were made.

The local Crime Scene Unit conducted an examination of the scene while Detective Gardaí began his investigations.

On the afternoon of September 9, a suspect was arrested in Cork City. He was taken to Bridewell Garda Station and detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

He has since been charged with appearing in Cork City District Court this morning, September 10 at 10.30am. M.
