A LOT of roasted chicken breast pieces was recalled for fear of dangerous bacteria that can cause “serious complications.”
Faughan Foods is recalling a batch of Glensallagh Family Pack roast chicken breast pieces due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes.
Consumers are advised not to eat batch P3527 with an expiration date of September 13, 2020 of chicken, which has been sold in Lidl stores in Ireland.
The withdrawal notices from the point of sale will be displayed in the stores supplied with the batch involved.
The dangerous bacteria feared to be in the product is Listeria monocytogenes.
‘SEVERE’ EFFECTS
The Irish Food Safety Authority warned: “Listeria monocytogenes infection can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and stiff neck.
“In rare cases, the infection can be more serious and cause serious complications.
“Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections, including pregnant women, infants, and people with weakened immune systems, including the elderly.”
The incubation period, that is, between the initial infection and the appearance of the first symptoms, is on average three weeks, but can range from three to 70 days.
Retailers have been asked to remove the involved lot from sale and to display a point of sale recall notice in stores where the affected lot was sold.
The FSAI has warned customers not to consume the batch.
