Gardai’s record drop in breaches of Covid-19 regulations in pubs

There were only 13 breaches of Covid-19 regulations in pubs last week, compared to 21 in the previous period, Gardai has confirmed.

A spokeswoman said Gardai continued to find “widespread compliance” with the rules of licensed establishments.

Under Operation Navigation, officers have conducted checks at thousands of bars and restaurants across the country since July 3, finding a total of 198 violations.

But from Monday, August 31 to Sunday, September 6, Gardai found only 13 rapes.

This is less than 21 for the previous week.

Deputy Police and Security Commissioner John Twomey said: “There continues to be a very high level of compliance among licensed establishments.

“This is welcome. However, some licensed establishments are putting the health of their employees, customers and local communities at risk.

“Customers of such facilities should also consider the risks to themselves, their family and friends of ignoring public health advice and regulations.”

The positive news comes just a day after it was announced that the “wet pubs” could reopen on September 21.
