A MOTORCYCLIST died today in a second fatal traffic accident in Cork.
The accident also involved a car, near Dromahane, on the outskirts of Mallow.
A local road in the area has been closed.
A forensic examination will be conducted at the site.
The accident occurred after 2:00 p.m.
Earlier today, a woman in her 60s was killed in a car-truck accident at Baxter’s Bridge, between Bandon and Enniskeane.
A man who was seriously injured in that accident was taken to hospital.
A WOMAN has died and another person has been injured in a road accident in West Cork.
The woman, who was 60 years old and living in the West Cork area, was a passenger in a car that collided with a truck at Baxter’s Bridge on the road between Bandon and Enniskeane.
The man who was driving the car was taken to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries.
A helicopter attended the scene, but was not required.
Superintendent Brendan Fogarty said the truck driver did not require hospital treatment.
The road has been closed and detours have been established, pending a forensic examination.
Efforts are now being made to contact the relatives of the deceased.
Supt Fogarty appeals to anyone who witnessed the accident at 12:45 pm, and in particular anyone with dashcam footage, to contact Bandon Gardaí on 023 8852200.
