Prince Harry’s friend’s curt comment on Meghan Markle the morning after the royal wedding

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding guest list couldn’t have been more star-studded if they’d tried, with royals, celebrities and music legends watching as they said yes.

George and Amal Clooney, Elton John, David and Victoria Beckham, Oprah Winfrey and Serena Williams were among the stars who arrived at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on a sunny May afternoon, along with the Queen, the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Charles and the rest of The Firm.

When the public celebrations ended, the newlyweds and their family and friends enjoyed a delicious lunch hosted by Harry’s grandmother, but not all were invited.

Some people were just invited to the ceremony and had to say their goodbyes before the real fun began.

After lunch, a lavish evening reception was held, hosted by Prince Charles, and the guest list was once again removed, leaving just 200 of Meghan and Harry’s closest friends to party the night away.

These are said to be the people the couple trusted and valued the most, and who wanted them to be part of their future.

But one person who was conspicuously absent from the nightly celebrations was one of Harry’s oldest friends, Tom Inskip, known as Skippy.

The couple met at Eton and have been very close ever since.

In their new book Finding Freedom, actual authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand claim that Skippy was not happy about being removed from the list and made a curt comment at brunch the next day.

They write: “Notably absent were Harry’s old friend Skippy, who had questioned the prince’s relationship with Meghan, and his wife, Lara.

“They were invited to the wedding ceremony and reception at lunchtime, but they did not make the cut for the evening party.

“Over brunch the day after the wedding, Skippy told her friends ‘Meghan has changed Harry too much.’

“His friend from Eton said the prince was in awe of people like the Clooney and Oprah.

“’We’ve lost it,’ Skippy concluded.

“A lot of Harry’s old friends said that the evening’s guest list was the prince and his girlfriend’s way of saying ‘these are the people we want in our lives to move on.’

At the beginning of the book, the authors explain the struggles Harry and Skippy’s friendship faced after he expressed concern about how quickly the romance with Meghan was progressing.

They claim that Skippy advised Harry to try living with Meghan a bit earlier “before doing something more serious.”

While the comments “came from a good place”, Harry saw them as negativity and the prince was “very hurt”.
