Aldi Ireland has agreed a new € 3 million deal with Dublin-based Pizza Sorrento to supply its 143 Irish stores.
The new contract will see Pizza Sorrento supply Aldi with more than 2.5 million original double-pack and sourdough handmade pizza bases over the next two years.
The agreement follows a successful product trial at some of the Aldi stores and the pizzas will now be available nationwide at each of the Aldi stores nationwide.
Based on the East Wall in Dublin, Pizza Sorrento was founded in 2012 by Giorgio Lisi and Stephen Carr.
After learning his trade at the family bakery in Sorrento, Giorgio came to Ireland and established Pizza Sorrento, which now creates authentic Italian stone oven pizza bases and pizza sauces based on his own family recipes.
Aldi’s new deal has resulted in the creation of two new jobs at Pizza Sorrento, adding to its team of 13.
It has also enabled the company to invest in custom machinery, including a new packaging machine.
Pizza Sorrento has seen its production levels increase by 30% since it started working with Aldi.
