One of the passengers suspected of being in the car that collided with the innocent cyclist Thiago Cortes has come forward.
But the Irish Sun may reveal that a lawyer for the teenager informed Gardai that his client would not comment.
The teenager is a close friend of the alleged driver in the hit-and-run.
This is understood to have happened after the teenager was identified by others as one of the people in the car at the time of the accident.
Yesterday we revealed that the Gardai are satisfied that the Deliveroo driver was not deliberately shot down.
Thiago, 28, was hit by the Ford Focus 05 at North Wall Quay after a red light broke around 10.30pm Monday night.
COPS TRAWL CCTV
Cortés was rushed to Mater Hospital but lost his fight for life Wednesday morning.
The alleged driver of the car, who recently turned 16, also met with Gardai, but has not been arrested.
He was introduced after the locals also identified him as the driver of the vehicle.
Gardai, who held a conference on the case on Saturday, is understood to have identified the others who were in the car.
But they are still tracking via CCTV to identify the movements of the € 200 car before the accident.
And the Gardai in the case are also satisfied that the car did not deliberately collide with Thiago, as he had gone straight on when the rider exited a junction.
‘THEY HAVE BEEN COWARDS’
A source said: “Two of the people who were in the car have come forward but have not shed any light on what happened.
“The victim’s fiancée has asked them to be brave, but so far they have been cowards.
“It would have been so much easier for them if they had shown up instead of waiting until the Gardai knocked on their door.”
While the investigation into causing the death as dangerous continues, Thiago’s fiancee Teresa, also 28, confirmed that he will be cremated next week.
‘PLEASE ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY’
But it is unclear if his ashes will be scattered here in Ireland or in his native Brazil.
Thiago’s heartbroken fiancée said: “We have had fantastic support from the gardai, the Irish community and also the Brazilian community.
“We would expect the service for Thiago to take place next week, but we still don’t know what the final plan will be.
“It’s been almost a week since we lost him and I’m just asking the driver of this car to take responsibility for his actions.
“Thiago was the love of my life and I will never forget the seven wonderful years we spent together.”
Mourning Teresa, who has been joined by her mother Myrna in Dublin, added: “We were eager to spend the rest of our lives together, but now it has been taken from us.
“The hardest thing I’ve had to do is call Thiago’s parents and brother and tell them that their wonderful son and brother had been taken from them.”
