A 27-year-old man was arrested by police investigating multiple stabbings in Birmingham in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The suspect is being held on suspicion of murder and seven counts of attempted murder.
A 23-year-old man suffered fatal injuries in one of the knife attacks.
A man and a woman, ages 19 and 32, who sustained serious stab wounds, remain in critical condition at the hospital, police said.
A major incident was declared and a manhunt began for a man who used to have a knife and who was enraged for 90 minutes in the city of Birmingham.
Emergency services were alerted to an incident shortly after midnight Sunday.
“Officers worked through yesterday and into the early hours of this morning in an attempt to locate the man we believe responsible for these horrific crimes,” said Birmingham Police Commander Chief Superintendent Steve Graham.
“A line of investigation finally led us to an address in the Selly Oak area this morning where a man was arrested.”
