The fiancée of Thiago Cortes, a victim of HIT-and-run, revealed last night that they were ready to get married this year.
But Teresa Dantas had to tell the parents of the 28-year-old Deliveroo driver that he had died after being hit in Dublin.
The grieving Teresa, 28, said: “We were eager to spend the rest of our lives together.”
The couple, who have been together for seven years, were due to marry in a legal ceremony before having a reception for their friends and family next year.
‘KINDNESS, HOT, SPECIAL’
Heartbroken Teresa, who was joined by her mother Myrna in Dublin last night, said: “We were eager to spend the rest of our lives together, but now it has been taken from us.
“The hardest thing I’ve had to do is call Thiago’s parents and brother and tell them that their wonderful son and brother had been taken from them.
“She was such a caring, warm, special and loving person that she was respected by so many people; we are all devastated by her loss.
“We should have had our legal wedding ceremony before Christmas, but now it has been taken away from us.
“Thiago was the love of my life and I will never forget him.”
‘DO THE RIGHT THING’
She has pleaded with the people in the car that hit Thiago to turn themselves in, telling them: “Do the right thing.”
Heartbroken Teresa Dantas, who said she had “lost the love of my life,” added: “I would beg whoever was in the car to be brave and accept the consequences of their actions.
“My fiancée stayed by the side of the road and no one should be treated this way.
‘INTRODUCE ONESELF’
“All we ask is that you come forward and be responsible for causing the death of a completely innocent man.
“He was separated from his family, friends and colleagues and he deserves justice.”
Gardai is hunting four people who were in the 2005 Ford Focus when it crashed into Thiago, 28, at around 10.30pm Monday at North Wall Quay in Dublin.
The Deliveroo driver was riding a bike when the vehicle, which had no tax, insurance or NCT, crashed into him before being abandoned a short distance away.
He passed away in hospital on Wednesday morning.
The hit-and-run investigation is being led by detectives from Store Street Garda Station.
SEARCH FOR COP
Officers spent yesterday tracking CCTV footage as part of their search for the killer driver and his three friends.
Dozens of people have already come forward with information about the incident, and a vigil for justice was held on Wednesday night in the city of Dublin.
And yesterday Teresa added: “I would also like to thank the Gardai, friends and all those who attended the vigil for all the support they have given us during these last four days.”
The cops conducted house-to-house investigations and also continued to examine the Ford Focus.
The Irish Sun may reveal that the murderer’s alleged driver has been linked to other criminal incidents in the capital.
The schoolboy is part of a group of thugs from North Dublin who have been terrorizing local families.
MAIN SUSPICIOUS
A source said: “The people involved in this are nothing but cowards.
“They have been asked to be brave and come forward, but they have not done so yet.
“Once all the evidence has been gathered, arrests will be made in this investigation.”
Local independent councilor Nial Ring urged the driver and his friends to go to the police.
The former mayor said: “We are in the fourth day since this young man lost his life and it is imperative that people come forward.
“I would ask the people who were in the car and those who know them to do the right thing and tell Gardai what they know. It is never too late for them to show courage. “
‘SINCERE CONDO’
Road safety activist Neil Fox, 40, whose 30-year-old sister Donna tragically lost her life after being hit by a truck while riding a bicycle on September 6, 2016, offered his condolences to Cortés’s family. .
He said: “There are certain incidents that resonate with me and this was one of them. My sister lost her life near the scene of the accident on Monday night.
“Whoever was in that car on Monday night will now know that the rider has lost his life and the act of kindness that they can now offer is to step up.
“People in the area were traumatized when I lost my sister and I hope they feel the same at this time from this terrible incident.
“My heart goes out to this man’s family, friends and colleagues, and we should all continue to observe our own driving behavior in the future.”
Councilor Ring offered his support to the young man’s family.
Ring said: “On behalf of everyone in the North City Center, I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the family and friends of this young man.”
