An 11-year-old girl is in serious condition at the hospital after being hit by a car while walking in Limerick County.
The girl was airlifted to Cork University Hospital after the collision that occurred on the N24 in Pallasgreen at around 5.15pm on Thursday.
Emergency services, including gardai, paramedics from the National Ambulance and two units from the Cappamore fire station, attended the scene of the incident that resulted in the closure of the main 24 for several hours.
“An 11-year-old girl was seriously injured when she was hit by a car. She was airlifted from the scene to Cork University Hospital, where her condition is believed to be serious, “said a Garda spokesman.
An examination of the crash site has been carried out and the road has since been reopened to traffic. The occupants of the car were unharmed.

The Gardaí investigating are asking that witnesses and people with video footage (including the dash camera) of the route at the time of the collision contact them.
