Two schools in Kerry have been forced to send students home after students tested positive for Covid-19.
The first case, which was in an elementary school, saw two classes sent home after a student tested positive for the virus.
The student who tested positive had a brother in another class, with whom they were in close contact.
A short time later, a high school in the area also sent students home after a positive case of Covid-19 was discovered.
It is understood that this case is also linked to the elementary school that closed early Thursday.
Anyone “in the bubble” of the student in question was sent home, according to public health councils.
There is another suspicious case at that school.
Its director told The Kerryman: “Cleaning and misting has been carried out.
“No further action is required at this time.
“The HSE will communicate directly with families [in relation to school attendance by pupils in the coming days], but the students of the bubble in which there is a confirmed case will stay at home ”.
