After a fairly slow start to the transfer window, it appears Manchester United are finally starting to do business.
The club is widely reported to be on the verge of signing Donny van de Beek from Ajax, with the midfielder set to move for a fee of around £ 40 million.
Dutch should be a great addition. At just 23 years old, he has been one of the most sought-after midfielders on the continent for the past 18 months.
With the club looking to bring in another pair of signings over the course of the window, we are also likely to see some players leave Old Trafford. However, with a number of fringe players on massive contracts, such deals could be difficult to pull off.
According to Mail Sport, Manchester United will look to get rid of Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereira before the current transfer window ends.
Neither player had a major role to play at the club last season, and Lingard made only one Premier League start after the turn of the year. He was also left out of the day’s squad on several occasions.
Pereira put up a little more than his teammate, but he also found himself out of favor at the end of the campaign.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes that removing this pair from the payroll will open up room for more income. The Norwegian reportedly wants to sign a center back, a right-back and a forward alongside van de Beek before the end of the window.
