Shamrock Rovers could pull off a hugely successful draw with Serie A giants AC Milan when the Europa League second round qualifying draw takes place at lunchtime.

The Hoops went through an epic clash with Ilves on Thursday, defeating the Finns 12-11 on penalties after the game ended 2-2 at Tallaght Stadium.

They will meet their next opponents when the draw takes place today at 11am Irish time, with the list reduced to three: Fehervar FC from Hungary, FK Zalgiris Vilnius from Lithuania or Milan.

Fehervar beat Rovers’ bitter rivals the Bohemians on a penalty shoot-out in the first round.

In 2010, Shamrock Rovers faced Juventus in the third qualifying round of the Europa League. They lost 3-0 on aggregate.

Meanwhile, Dundalk, who will be seeded after the Champions League qualification, will also find out who he will face in Europe.

The Lilywhites could draw Linfield, Finland’s KuPS, Malta’s Floriana, Slovakia’s Slovan Bratislava or Andorra’s Inter Escaldes.

Slovan Bratislava beat Dundalk 4-1 on aggregate when they met in the Europa League third qualifying round last year.

Last November, the reigning Premier Division champions defeated Linfield 7-1 on aggregate to win the first ever Unite the Union Champions Cup.
