An investigation is underway in Co Kerry into the unexplained death of a man in his 20s who was found unconscious outside a facility on the outskirts of Killarney, Gardaí confirmed.
A scene in a well-known hotel on Muckross Road has been cordoned off and the young man is believed to be from North Cork.
The body remains on the scene.
An autopsy will be conducted at a later date and this will determine the course of the investigation, a Garda spokesman said.
“Gardaí is investigating all the circumstances surrounding the inexplicable death of a man that occurred on Saturday, August 29, 2020, outside a facility on Muckross Road in Killarney, Co Kerry,” they said.
Gardaí arrived at the scene at approximately 11:40 pm last night and observed an unconscious man lying outside the entrance. He was pronounced dead shortly after.
The scene is currently being preserved for technical examination while investigations are carried out.
Moreover, the videos are circulating widely on social media from the crowded streets of Killarney over the weekend, with partygoers some shirtless, seen jumping into phone booths that now contain defibrillators.
In the videos, people are seen drinking in the streets cheering as cars pass by on the busy lanes of the main street of the city.
This is the latest in a series of party-packed street scenes posted to social media in the resort town in recent weeks.
