Chelsea has had a busy summer to say the least. They have already signed Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Ben Chilwell for more than £ 130 million.
They have also signed Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr on free transfers to bolster their defense.
Frank Lampard’s summer spending could also be about to continue.
FEATURE: Record transfer progression of all Premier League clubs
According to Football Insider, Chelsea are preparing a great play for AC Milan’s wonder boy Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The 21-year-old is one of the most valuable goalkeepers in the world and has already made more than 170 appearances for the Italian team.
The Blues want to bring Donnarumma to Stamford Bridge by offering Kepa Arrizabalaga in exchange.
The report reveals that Lampard wants to put Donnarumma on loan for one season to assess whether he would be successful in the Premier League.
If it impresses, Chelsea would then activate a clause to sign the player permanently.
Going in the other direction would be the current Chelsea Arrizabalaga.
The Spaniard is in disgrace at Chelsea after a streak of poor performances.
He also has the worst save percentage in league history, which is why Lampard is looking for his replacement.
Arrizabalaga would join Milan for one season on loan with an option to buy.
That means the two clubs would essentially be making a trade deal with the players.
Chelsea would have to pay a large sum to sign Donnarumma, but this way it means it won’t be until next summer.
That gives Lampard time to get rid of part of his squad, including N’golo Kante who has been told he can go.
Marcos Alonso has also been linked to a departure from London.
The 29-year-old had previously been linked to a move to Newcastle, which could now happen following the arrival of Chilwell.
In addition to Donnarumma, the Blues are in talks to sign West Ham’s Declan Rice and Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen.
If both transfers go through, it would mean an impressive transfer window for Lampard.
