It appears that Arsenal will sell goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez following Bernd Leno’s return from injury, according to reports.

The Argentine emerged as a key surprise player towards the end of the season after Leno was taken offside.

He played a major role in the FA Cup final victory over Chelsea earlier this month and was thought to be on the brink of a new contract.

However, according to The Athletic, Martinez could now be sold and replaced by coach Mikel Arteta, as they want to cash in.

Leno’s return from injury in time for the 2020/21 season means Martinez will have a difficult time getting the most amount of playing time, something the player is actively looking for.

Arsenal bosses see Leno as the club’s number one and will now let Martinez go for the right price.

They hope to get a bigger sum after Martinez’s impressive performances towards the end of the season. His fee could reach around £ 20 million, and numerous Premier League clubs are believed to be interested.

Arsenal have identified Brentford’s David Raya as his replacement, according to Metro. The Spaniard has been followed by the North London club for a while and is highly regarded by the club’s manager Inaki Cana.

The Gunners could make a significant profit if they can sell Martinez and bring Cana in at a reduced price.

This profit would help finance Arteta’s summer reform. Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Calum Chambers all could be sold to raise transfer funds.

Rob Holding has been linked to a move to Fulham and could be replaced on defense.

If they raise enough funds, Arsenal could finally sign Thomas Partey from Atlético de Madrid. The 27-year-old currently has a £ 45 million release clause in his contract and Arteta is looking to him to strengthen his midfield.
