Taoiseach Leo Varadkar is set to brief the nation again today regarding the latest coronavirus developments.

Ireland is set to move into phase one of the lockdown opening plan on Monday, May 18th as we begin our road to normality.

Mr Varadkar will do a state address, as has been the norm in recent weeks, where he will give the latest update.

What time will Leo Varadkar make an announcement?

The Taoiseach will brief the nation after the Cabinet meets this afternoon to go over the measures.

The briefing will take place at 4pm.

The NPHET emergency team already met last night and made their recommendations so it’s all up to the Cabinet now.

Speaking at the Dail on Thursday, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said he was ‘confident’ that the first phase of the plan would go ahead from Monday.

The Taoiseach said: “We are seeing what we can achieve when we put the needs of the many above the needs of the few,” he said.
