The Cabinet is expected to sign the first easing of the Covid-19 restrictions today as part of the government’s roadmap to reopen society and the economy.

All indications are that the Cabinet will give the green light to begin the reopening of around 1,500 companies on Monday.

These include home goods stores, garden centers, farmers markets, bicycle and car garage stores, IT and electrical stores, and opticians.

Golf courses and tennis courts will also reopen.

Construction workers and gardeners will also be able to return to work on Monday.

Up to four people who do not live in the same home can meet outdoors, provided they maintain a distance of two meters.

The Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys, will also present a proposal to the Cabinet for a € 250 million fund for small businesses.

It will provide grants of up to € 10,000 to help companies wishing to reopen.
