Two people have appeared in court accused in connection with a gang-related murder in Dublin last year.

Lacey O’Connor, 28, and Mark Casserly, 45, both with an address at Rowlagh Park in Ronanstown, were charged with perverting the course of justice.

They were released on bail to appear again in the Blanchardstown District Court in July.

Wayne Whelan, 42, was shot dead before the car he was in was set on fire at Mount Andrew Rise on November 18, 2019.

It was identified through DNA three days later.

Ms. O’Connor faces one charge of perverting the course of justice in November, while Casserly faces two of these charges on December 5 and 12.

Sergeant John Conway and Detective Garda Mark Rowantree gave evidence of arresting the defendant at the Ronanstown Garda station at 9 a.m. and both defendants did not respond when charged.

There was no Garda objection to the bond and both Ms. O’Connor and Mr. Casserly were released on bail after agreeing to surrender and not request a passport and sign daily at the Ronanstown Garda station.

Judge Gerard Jones also granted them free legal assistance.
