The reality star was one of the nation’s most beloved characters on the show that saw members of the public comment on television shows from their living rooms.
The beloved couple was the first couple to be chosen for the program in 2013.
On Twitter, the show’s executive producer paid tribute to Ms. Bernicoff and wrote: the As the first couple chosen for Gogglebox in 2013, June and her husband Leon were a big part of the show’s success. Their warmth, wit, and contrasting personalities brought them to the nation over the course of the first 10 series. “
After her fame and after her husband’s death, June wrote two books about her love story called Boyfriends forever and Leon and June: our story.
After meeting at a training school in 1955, the couple raised their family in Liverpool and they were married for 57 years.
Tweeting in December, she told her followers that she was “reluctantly leaving” Liverpool to get closer to the family after her husband’s death.
Speaking about Ms. Bernicoff, Ms. Alexander wrote: ‘A remarkably independent woman of principle, with a lively sense of humor and a great passion for life, June will be deeply missed by the entire family, cast and crew from Googlebox.
“Despite her departure from the show in 2017, she remained a passionate supporter of the show, watching it every week, and maintained regular contact with the production team.”
She is survived by her daughters Helen and Julie, and her family is asking for donations to mytonhospice.org.
