The beautiful weather has been interrupted in all six Munster counties today with areas of thunderstorms.

I met Eireann this afternoon issued a warning valid until 10 p.m. tonight with the risk of thunder and lightning.

Some areas have already seen considerable thunder showers on what is expected to be the hottest day of the year so far.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: “Groups of slow thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening with lightning activity and local downpours.”

Fortunately, the other provinces seem to miss the weather and see temperatures up to twenty years old with clear skies.

A forecaster added: “Many areas will be dry, calm and warm for the rest of today with more misty sun spells. However, scattered showers are also developing, especially across the southwest; stormy showers moving slowly here can lead to possible floods.

“The highest temperatures will range between 19 and 23 or 24 degrees Celsius, warmer in the south-midlands; a little cooler in the north of Ulster and on the coasts with sea breezes.

“Cloudy and patchy rain outbreaks will move to the northern areas earlier tonight and gradually spread south. Colder in the northern half of the country with lower temperatures of 3 and 7 degrees Celsius, but milder to the south with lower temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees Celsius.

It’s getting windy too, with moderate to cool northeast winds, stronger on the north and east coasts later. “

Unfortunately, the warm weather will end on Sunday with a return to cool, rainy conditions.

Climate bosses added: “Sunday will be a much cooler day with fast winds from the northeast. It will start cloudy with some more irregular outbreaks of rain, but overall the day will bring a lot of dry weather with sunny periods extending from the north.” .

“The highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees Celsius in the north and east and 12 to 16 degrees Celsius elsewhere, with cool, gusty winds from the northeast, stronger along the coasts.”
