Gogglebox star June Bernicoff died at the age of 82, Channel 4 confirmed.
The much-loved television personality was “at home with her family by her side” and died after a brief illness, the station said.
A statement from Channel 4 and producer Studio Lambert said: “We are deeply saddened to announce that Gogglebox’s beloved June Bernicoff passed away at the age of 82 on May 5 at home with her family after a brief illness.
Absolutely heartbroken to tell you that our beloved June Bernicoff passed away Tuesday after a brief illness, not related to Covid-19. June and Leon were the #Glasses box originals and a big part of the show’s success. He adored them both. Big kiss june dear ❤️ pic.twitter.com/3yi3qdohiQ

“As the first couple to be chosen for Gogglebox in 2013, June and her husband Leon were a big part of the show’s success.
“Their warmth, wit, and contrasting personalities brought them to the nation during the course of the first 10 series.”
The station said his death was not related to Covid-19.
After Leon passed away in December 2017, June wrote her first book, Leon and June: our history, about their 60 year love story.
