The rules for traveling in and out of the country during the Covid-19 outbreak could be changed starting next week.
Tonight it was confirmed that 27 more people with the virus have lost their lives, bringing the death toll to 1,429.
There are now 22,541 confirmed cases after 156 other positive tests were detected in the past 24 hours.
Over the course of six days last week, from April 28 to May 3, a third of passengers arriving at Dublin airport failed to provide their quarantine details to authorities, according to the Justice Department.
Medical Director Dr. Tony Holohan says the Ministers will discuss the changes at the ports and airports.
“We consider the whole question of travel and the point of entry,” said Dr. Holohan.
“Through the Minister of Health, we will provide advice to the government, which will consider it before anything is made public regarding what will happen.”
“We then considered and offered the view that we believe it is important that other sectors, departments, agencies and other organizations begin seriously the purpose of planning for preparedness for possible reduction of restrictions.”
