Ticket giant Ticketmaster has outlined the processes in place for events affected by the COVID-19 crisis here in Ireland.
Speaking to Newstalk, a company spokesman said about 500 shows will be postponed or canceled.
A statement issued by the states of the company: “While some events unfortunately had to be canceled, we are working with many of our event partners to see the best way to reschedule each event for your enjoyment.
“As you can imagine, this takes time, so we really appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this new territory.”
Anyone with event tickets in 2020 is encouraged to visit Ticketmaster is online , which shows whether an event has been rescheduled, rescheduled with a new date, or canceled entirely.
Here are the steps the company is encouraging ticket holders to follow for each scenario:
- For future events that are still scheduled, everything is ready. There is nothing you need to do. If anything changes, we will contact you with updates.
- If you purchased online and your event has been canceled, there is nothing you need to do: we will contact you directly for more information. If you purchased your tickets at the box office or at the store, please return to your point of purchase.
- If your event has been rescheduled, we are working with the event organizer to identify new dates, and we will get back to you as soon as we have confirmation and more information about it.
If consumers have tickets for an event that has been rescheduled but the new date is not appropriate, standard practice is to issue a refund.
Ticketmaster says: “In the unlikely event that a show is canceled, we will always refund your money.
“Alternatively, we can rebook it on the rescheduled date (if announced) and the timing is in accordance with your plans.”
Ticketmaster has warned that due to the high volume of inquiries, customers are experiencing longer than normal wait times to respond to a customer inquiry.
