Kate Garraway has released a troubling update on the health of her husband Derek Draper as she continues to fight the coronavirus.

The 52-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter admitted that he was in a “deeply critical” condition in intensive care after falling ill with Covid-19 symptoms last week.

As the life-threatening virus brought the country to its knees, with an established blockade, Derek was hospitalized with the disease after testing positive for coronavirus.

Since Kate confirmed the news, her husband’s health has deteriorated and in the early hours of Friday morning he updated his followers with the news that Derek was not improving.

On Instagram, Kate posted a video of fireworks and flares, and people in her neighborhood celebrated and applauded NHS workers, who risk their lives on the front line in treating those with Covid-19.

Kate praised hospital staff for “keeping her husband alive,” but admitted she clings to the hope that he can get by.

The Instagram caption read: “From the bottom of my heart, a billion thanks to the extraordinary #nhsworkers whose skills, dedication and frank guts in the face of so much personal risk, keep my Derek alive, just as they are doing for thousands of patients greedy.

“I am afraid he is still in a deeply critical condition, but he is still here, which means there is hope.”

“Sending so much love and support to the thousands who have had that hope for their loved ones robbed by this horrible disease.

“You are not alone and I hope that helps you resist the torture of pain.”

Kate thanked those who have helped her family through this difficult time.

She continued: “Thanks, too, to my own little band of ‘key workers,’ the neighbors who left fireworks tonight for the #nhs, gave the Easter bunny a hand to make life feel a little more normal. To Darcey & Billy, those who have left food, friends, family and all of you who have sent messages of love and support.

“It is a great comfort. We should all be together #clapthecarers #love #hope.”
