A young murder victim promised to “be there no matter what” for her unborn child just two hours before he was brutally stabbed.

The tragic Glen Osborne, from the East Wall area of north Dublin city center, posted a message on social media about the birth of his son this summer.

He wrote: “I can’t wait for me to be born to see you, to get a bond father and son. I will be there for you no matter what happens. My love for you is crazy. I will support you no matter what.

But the 20-year-old’s family was distraught after he was stabbed in the chest during a fight with a teenager at Ballybough House, shortly after posting his heartfelt message.

Osborne was rushed to Mater Hospital but lost his fight for life. Gardai arrested a 16-year-old boy around 2 a.m. yesterday on suspicion of murder.

The Irish Sun may also reveal that Gardai believes Glen had paddled with the teenager in recent days.

Both Glen and the suspect, who knew each other, are from well-known families in the north of the city.

‘I AM LOST WITHOUT YOU’

A source said: “A young man who should have been a father has lost his life in very tragic circumstances.

“He had been involved in several lines with the teenager, but it was unclear what it was about.”

The murder victim’s sister, Nicole, recounted her grief on social media.

She said, “Why brother? I will never understand. Why did you leave me. I will lose myself without you.

“I loved you with all my heart. I can’t believe you’re gone with me. My heart is broken for you. Sleep well, look at everyone. “

STOLEN OF LIFE

Last night dozens of tributes were paid to the murder victim on social media.

Another relative said, “I literally have no words. I’m surprised they stole a life from you.

“I will appreciate every memory we have together. Life is so cruel.”

Another said: “Rest friend, another life taken too soon.”

Local independent councilor Nial Ring offered his condolences to the young man’s family and said: “The deceased comes from a well-known family in the city center and the locals are sad that he has taken on a vibrant young life.”

“The news that the alleged perpetrator is under the age of 18 has increased the feeling of helplessness.

LOCAL DISTURBANTS

“This is especially troubling for the locals right now when there is a massive local effort to care for the elderly and the less affluent in our community during the Covid-19 crisis.”

He continued: “I see, first hand, this incredible approach and care for others and I can understand how this incident will be the one that will make the headlines, not the community that works together for others.

“But regardless of the circumstances surrounding this incident, I know that the local community will, of course, take into account the young man’s family and friends who have lost someone who should have a lifetime ahead of them.”

The investigation is being conducted by detectives from Mountjoy Garda Station.

A spokeswoman said: “Shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday night, the Gardai were called to the scene of a serious assault at Ballybough House, where a man with apparent stab wounds was discovered.

Gardai and the emergency services treated the man and transferred him to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

“Since then, a young man has been arrested investigating Gardai and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act of 1984 at Mountjoy Garda Station.”

Gardai asked anyone with information to contact them at the Mountjoy Garda station at 01 6668600, the confidential Garda line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
